What is stress?

Stress is a highly orchestrated response to a real or imagined threat or challenge that includes biological, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional elements.

The ability to respond to stressful or threatening situations is critical for our survival. However, prolonged exposure to stress has a toxic effect on the brain and body.

Stress may be acute, chronic, physical or psychological. Physical stressors often have psychological aspects and vice versa.

The key is to understand that it is not that happens to you that causes stress but by how you respond to it. 


Good news is that with coaching and therapy you can learn skills and techniques that can help you change your response to challenging situations. 

Anxiety

Anxiety is a set of feelings we have when there are no obvious presenting threatening situations, often not knowing why those anxious feeling came about but our bodies experiencing many side effects, such as a racing heart, unable to focus and even having panic attacks.

Anxiety is often characterised by excessive fear and worry about what might happen and can be very confusing and frustrating for the individual as there is often no specific cause they can pinpoint.

There are different types of anxiety such as performance anxiety, general anxiety disorder, social anxiety, panic disorders, compulsive behaviours and phobias. 


If left untreated it can interfere with day to day functioning and some say it is crippling. 

However, with cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy you can get relief!

Self Confidence & Self Esteem

Self confidence is defined as the belief in one's ability to deal with challenges and situations. It can be quite general or specific to particular situations. 
Whilst self esteem is more to do with overall person's self worth or personal value. 
By exploring the current thinking patterns and understanding how current behaviours affect your thoughts and feelings, new skills and techniques can be learnt to bring about a change enabling you to see things in a different light.
